Thinking Silesia is a selection of essays which focus on the issue of Silesia and the phenomenon of Silesian identity. Silesia is a classical borderland in the middle Europe. The authors look at Silesia, its cultural memory, intellectual traditions, local autonomy, and material history, from many points of view which vary from historical, anthropological, and cultural studies to personal existential experience. This interdisciplinary, comparative research provides the reader with a study of diverse aspects of the past and present of Silesia, its multicultural character as well as its ambiguous image in the cultural landscape of Poland.
