Mity o skrzydlatym koniu. Wokół debaty o Pegasusie i kontroli operacyjnej
(KBN UJ, 2022-02-22) Nyzio, Arkadiusz; Uniwersytet Jagielloński
The United Right is facing increasing pressure to investigate claims that the Polish security apparatus illegally used Pegasus, a spyware made by Israel's NSO Group, against the opposition. This sophisticated malware allows its users to remotely hack into smartphones and tablets, harvest the data or even take control of the device. The Pegasus scandal led to a string of controversies and suspicions related to wiretapping and electronic eavesdropping laws in Poland. As the ruling coalition is desperately trying to block a parliamentary inquiry into the allegations, the media became awash with oversimplifications, factual errors and deliberate attempts to misinform the public. In this article I wish to explore and clarify some of the most notorious myths concerning „the winged horse” and the surveillance procedures.
