Differences between self-employed women and men – an example of the Polish economy
(Universidad de Celaya, 2017) Turczak, Anna; West Pomeranian Business School in Szczecin
The aim of the article is to answer the question whether the fact that a given person is a woman or a man has an impact on their being either self-employed or an employee, or helping in conducting the family economic activity. The analysis has been carried out separately for seven selected sections of the Polish economy: 1. agriculture, forestry and fishing; 2. manufacturing; 3. construction; 4. trade and repair; 5. transportation and storage; 6. education; 7. human health and social work activities. The Cramer’s V ratio has been used to examine the strength of the relationship discussed in the article. Additionally, the magnitude of the difference between the proportion of selfemployed women and the proportion of self-employed men has been assessed. The test of significance has been used to verify the adequate statistical hypothesis.
