Apokalipsa zombie jako karnawał: odczytanie narracji o żywych trupach w kluczu Bachtinowskim

In the chapter Zombie Apocalypse as A Carnival: Reading Living Dead Narratives in the Bakhtinian Context, Maciej Mikołajski ponders the origin of the zombie discourse. He argues that zombies cannot be derived solely from the Haitian voodoo cult due to the fact that there are too many radical differences between Haitian and contemporary representations of zombies. The article shows that the roots of the zombie discourse in its present form come from various discourses of the Middle Ages, especially the late Middle Ages’ carnival discourse. Using methods given by Mikhail Bakhtin in his Rab-elais and His World, the author shows various similarities between the carnival and the zombie apocalypse, so
