Diversity, Equity, Inclusion, and Social Justice as a Guiding Principle of LIS Professions: Research Trends and Issues

Abstract
Diversity, equity, inclusion and social justice are the guiding principles of LIS professionals. This paper discusses the basic issues and emerging trends in this field and identifies the challenges that librarians and information science professional face in their work. The multifaceted nature of integration and diversity is presented on the basis of an in-depth analysis of literature and existing practices. The importance of promoting equal access to knowledge and library services is also emphasized. By presenting the diverse needs and perspectives of different groups of library patrons (such as persons with disabilities, ethnic minorities, seniors, etc.), this study emphasizes the need for ongoing dialog and for libraries to develop proactive strategies and transformational activities. The issue of working in a diverse library team is also mentioned.
