Podróże hrabiów Kossakowskich z linii wojtkuskiej po Europie przedstawione w rodzinnych wspomnieniach

Abstract

Niniejszy artykuł poświęcony został wojażom hrabiów Kossakowskich z linii wojtkuskiej po Europie w XIX wieku, które w tamtym okresie stanowiły pewien element życia codziennego grupy społecznej, do której należeli. Nie były one przedmiotem osobnych badań. Rozważania koncentrują się na podróżach Stanisława Kazimierza Kossakowskiego oraz jego najbliższych w latach 1837-1905.

In the 19th century travelling was an indispensable part of everyday life of aristocratic families. They wrote accounts of their voyages in diaries, memoirs and journals. Stanisław Kazimierz Kossakowski, the earl of Wojtuszki, the second heir to Lachowicze, often travelled abroad and he usually described his travels in his memoirs. As a child he often travelled across Europe with his parents. He accompanied them in France, the Netherlands, Russia, German countries, visiting historic places, friends and relatives. As an adult man he frequently travelled with his wife and children. The cities the earl visited included Paris, Vienna, Florence, Petersburg, Riga. Just like before, he travelled in order to learn about history, meet his acquaintances and family members. Sometimes his trips were the result of the situation in the Russian Empire in the second half of the 19th century.
