Abstract
The changing tendencies in criminal policy, consisting primarily of a gradual departure from repressive measures imposed on perpetrators of crimes towards means facilitating their return to normal life in society, as well as the growing professional position of probation officers provide them with new opportunities for dealing with criminals. One of such opportunities is the introduction of a new penal measure in the form of the in-house supervision of the probation officer over a criminal. Under such supervision, a professional probation officer could, within his autonomy, implement resocialisation measures that are necessary for the effciency of the resocialization process.
