Abstract
This monograph outline the attempt to analyze waste management, particularly the processes of municipal waste management in the perspective of cities (contrary to the administrative – communal and regional approach towards those processes presented so far). The theoretical goal of the monograph is to identify and organize the economic, technological and legal grounds of municipal waste management systems in cities. The empirical aim of the monograph is to collect data and describe the condition of municipal waste management in certain Polish and foreign cities, as well as to assess such management in selected cities from the perspective of effectiveness.
