Abstract
The article presents an analysis of the Russian constitutional crisis of 1991-1993, focusing on the process of formulating the new constitutional foundations of the Russian Federation and the dispute between Boris Yeltsin's presidential camp and the Congress of People's Deputies and its parliamentary speaker Ruslan Khasbulatov. The conflict was a watershed moment in the history of Russia's political transition, when political and personal differences began to destabilize the newly formed political system. The authors analyze in detail the course of events during the Sixth and Seventh Congresses of Deputies, where the competing political visions and personal ambitions of the participants forced both camps to try to gain public support and loyalty within the power structures. The methodology used includes historical, comparative and monographic analysis, using press sources and eyewitness recollections. The study is part of a broader series of publications on the development of Russian constitutionalism and is an attempt to fill a gap in Polish academic discourse on the complex mechanisms of presidential-parliamentary conflict in the context of the systemic transformation of the early 1990s.
