Space Feminism, Exploration, Exploitation and Ethics

Abstract
This chapter proposes a possible feminist approach to thinking about the meaningfulness of our future in space. We want to show that adopting the main feminist categories and concepts such as oppression, exclusion or exploitation allows us to look at the future exploration and exploitation of space in a skeptical and critical way. Through the lens of feminism, we expose the nationalist, militarist, capitalist and colonialist mechanisms underlying space exploration, as well as thinking about the future human presence in space. Finally, we suggest that there are good reasons to abandon space exploration motivated by the aforementioned mechanisms that reinforce domination and exploitation.
