Skala i symbolika współczesnej architektury
Abstract
A peculiar unity is the characteristic feature of ancient architecture. Its ideas, such as the gothic soaring to the skies or the baroque infinity are conveyed in a harmonious way. A man could perceive these ideas at every stage of experiencing a work of architecture. However, evers since modernist times, space is dominated by overwhelming, gigantic surfaces, without any individuating details. Contemporary architecture loses its structure as we zoom in. Why is the world of buildings no longer based on the human scale? What is the role of symbolism in architecture? The main aim of this article is the answer to those two questions.
