Abstract
This article attempts to give a comparative overview of working time of teachers in primary and secondary (lower and higher levels) education in Poland and selected EU member states. It provides an analysis of the working time of a teacher in the context of other comparative data, including the duration of a lesson unit, the duration of a school year and the number classroom learning hours per week for each level of education. the classification of educational levels applied by The International Standard Classification of Education is also described.
