Asystentura międzykulturowa na mapie zawodów pomocowych

Abstract
The first part of the article introduces intercultural assistance as a new profession within Poland s formal education system. It describes its grounding in educational legislation and presents both the formal and practical aspects of this form of assistance. In addition, this section covers the tasks, and the scale and mode of employment of intercultural assistants and those employed in schools in Poland as teachers aides for children with migrant backgrounds. In its second section, the article examines intercultural assistance as a helping profession. It analyses the process of the profession s professionalization and the elements that position it within the broader landscape of the helping professions. These include: (1) its placement along the continuum of care help support; (2) the applicability of the methodology of accompaniment in the work of intercultural assistants; (3) the phenomenon of double empowerment; (4) the use of an environmental approach in the work of intercultural assistants; and (5) the nature of cooperation between intercultural assistants and other specialists.
