Specialization of workforce structure in sectors of technical advancement in the European Union countries

Abstract
The purpose of the study is the application of regional specialization indices in the identification of specialization intensity in high and mid-high technology and knowledge-intensive services in the European Union countries. The research focused on workforce structure in the European Union countries in sectors identified by technological advancement. The conducted studies allowed for the classification of the EU countries in terms of specialization index values and the assessment of changes in this matter occurring in the period 2008-2012. The increase in specialization of technologically advanced economic sectors constitutes one of the crucial factors underlying international competitiveness
