Husyckie spojrzenie na przeszłość Kościoła w świetle traktatów i polemik
Abstract
The Hussite View of the Church Past as Seen in the Treatises and Polemics The aim of the article is to show the connection between three main elements of the view of the Church past as is shown in the Hussite treatises, letters and polemical works from the beginning of the Hussite revolution in 1419 until the end of the Poděbrad period in 1471. The use of the image of the Primitive Church (Ecclesia primitiva) as an ideal state of the Christian community is related to the conviction of the Hussites that Antichrist interferes into the hierarchical structures and everyday life of the Church. This is reflected in the self-portrait of the Hussite movement, which fights against the rule of Antichrist. However, as the Czech reformation develops, the radical branches (like Jednota Bratrská - Unitas Fratrum) adapt the model of the past, this time seeing the influence of Antichrist also in the utraquist (moderate) branch, which happened to become the mainstream of the reformation.
