Abstract
The mass media present mostly positive side of sport. We see in it the noble rivalry, respect for the opponent and respect for the established rules. Sport is an entertainment for the masses, generating a lot of excitement for fans and allowing them to get away from reality. Alongside with it, in a way no doubt embarrassing, there are presented all kinds of excesses and deviations, leading to the devaluation of modern sport. The purpose of this article is to signal the problem of dehumanization of sport overlooked in the pages of Polish press. The author focuses on showing some aspects of this phenomenon, such as corruption, gambling, doping, and political influence in the world of sport
