Abstract

Minione dekady przyniosły znaczący postęp w badaniach medycznych kontrowersyjnych zagad-nień dotyczących rozwoju i dymorfizmu płci oraz neurobiologii ludzkich zachowań, takich jak tożsamość płci. Nie-dawne usunięcie niezgodności płci (gender incongruence) z zapisu chorób psychicznych z rejestru ICD-11 WHO jest istotnym etapem w ewolucji paradygmatu medycznego dysforii płci. Termin „zaburzenie tożsamości płci” w DSM-5 został w 2013 r. zastąpiony terminem „dysforia płci” (stan niepokoju lub uogólnionego niezadowolenia), który koncentruje się raczej na cierpieniu, niż na samej odmianie płci. W pierwszej części medycznych aspektów dysforii płci przedstawiamy terminologię medyczną i zarys historyczny tematu.

The past decades brought a significant progress in medical research on controversial questions concerning development and maturation of sexual dimorphism and the neurobiology of human behavior, in-cluding sexual orientation. Recent exclusion of gender incongruence from the ICD11-WHO register of men-tal illnesses is an important step in the evolution of the medical paradigm of gender dysphoria. The DSM-5 term „gender identity disorder” was replaced in 2013 by „gender dysphoria” (state of unease or generalized dissatisfaction), focusing on distress rather than the gender variation itself. In the first part on the medical aspects of gender dysphoria we present medical terminology and historical outline of this topic.
