Abstract
W 2010 r. w czasie sezonu urlopowego przeprowadzono w Polsce przedterminowe wybory prezydenckie. Wzięło w nich udział wiele osób przebywających w miejscowościach turystycznych. Dane o frekwencji wyborczej w gminach z bazą turystyczną wykorzystano do określenia popularności różnych obszarów Polski jako miejsca letniego wypoczynku urlopowego. W wyniku badań zidentyfikowano 14 skupisk gmin będących celem wyjazdów urlopowych. Przeprowadzona analiza intensywności ruchu urlopowego w układzie województw i typów środowiska przyrodniczego wykazała bardzo silną koncentrację i polaryzację ruchu urlopowego na północnym i południowym skraju Polski.During the summer holiday season in 2010, early presidential election was held in Poland. So many holidaymakers went to vote that the number of votes cast in some resorts was significantly higher than the number of their permanent residents. The data on the number of voters, compared to the number of those living permanently in particular municipalities, has been used to conduct an analysis of the popularity of various areas of Poland as summer holiday destinations. The research resulted in identifying 14 groups of communities serving as holiday destinations. The conducted analysis of holiday travel intensity in particular provinces (voivodeships) and types of natural environment revealed very strong concentration and polarization of holiday travel. About 75 % holidaymakers chose municipalities lying close to water (almost 60 % at the seaside and about 16 % on lakes), while hardly 18 % stayed in the mountains. Such a spatial distribution is accompanied by very strong polarisation – almost all holiday tourism is concentrated along the northern and southern edges of the country. Other regions, even if they have recreational values, do not play a major role in holiday tourism.
