Abstract
In the article, the author addresses the issue of understanding classical education and its need in con temporary culture. Its essence and genesis, structure and method as well as its purpose are presented. Dłubacz defines classical education as a program and process of teaching and educating a student in reference to tradition, the aim of which is the full development of human nature. The author ends his considerations with a reflection on the role of philosophy in the process of education.
