dc.description.abstractDEFINITION OF THE TERM: The article is devoted to contemporary technological development, which is considered a major megatrend in security. HISTORICAL ANALYSIS OF THE TERM: Technological development has led to fundamental changes in military affairs. The Third Industrial Revolution brought computerisation and the networking of the armed forces. The Fourth Industrial Revolution will enable the implementation of new technologies that could have a disruptive impact on global politics. DISCUSSION OF THE TERM: The development and use of artificial intelligence and unmanned systems, combined with advances in areas such as robotics, biotechnology, and brain research, will lead to another revolution in military affairs. SYSTEMATIC REFLECTION WITH CONCLUSIONS AND RECOMMENDATIONS: The implementation of cutting-edge technologies could have enormous implications for the global balance of power. It is necessary to recognise the challenges involved and to strive to control technological development.en
