Abstract
The article discusses constructions and problems of Bulgarian national and cultural identity based on Ani Ilkov’s poetry written in 90s of XX century. In the early 90's, the new political and social realities forced nations of the former Eastern bloc toward (re)reading cultural, literary and history traditions, including national topos, myths and stereotypes. Ilkov redefines the national tradition and cultural heritage, he boldly asks about the problematic Bulgarian identity and reinterprets the historical past.
