Angielskie wypowiedzenia z czasownikami 'stanowymi' w czasie teraźniejszym vs. polskie wersje

Abstract
The present discourse focuses on English utterances with 'stative' verbs coding present situations. The verbs of interest typically convey 'static' situations. However, in specific circumstances, they can also occur as progressive complex verbs. The context in which 'stative' verbs code the progressive aspect is marked in various ways. The present discussion exposes three types of English 'stative' verbs with the progressive aspect in special interpretations: of 'posture', 'perception', and of 'attitude'. Since the Polish language, having only a general imperfective present tense verb form, does not differentiate between present progressive and present habitual, characteristic or 'stative' situations, Polish learners of English as a foreign language may find it difficult to realize when 'stative' verbs adopt the progressive aspect. Additionally, mechanical translators may mislead them since they may not render properly into English the submitted Polish utterances which invite the progressive aspect in 'stative' verbs, as shown in the examples demonstrated in Part 3. The article has a descriptive character. Its objective is to sensitize Polish learners of English to the said problems.
