Abstract
Całe dzieje struktur terytorialno-politycznych na Cejlonie liczące 2560 lat to walka dwóch nacji syngaleskiej i tamilskiej o terytorium, a także zdominowanie strony przeciwnej. W artykule dokonano analizy zmian struktur polityczno-terytorialnych, które zachodziły w historii Cejlonu i ukazano walkę o przestrzeń i władanie nad wyspą toczoną przez Syngalezów i Tamilów. Zrelacjonowano też ostatni (jak dotychczas) akord tej rywalizacji, klęskę Tamil Ilamu i odbudowę wyspy po ponad trzydziestu latach wojny domowej.The whole history of territorial-political structures in Ceylon of 2,560 years is a struggle between two nations, Sinhalese and Tamil, for territory and domination over the opposite side. The article analyzes the changes in the political and territorial structures, which occurred in the history of Ceylon and shown the struggle for space and dominion over the island waged by the Sinhalese and Tamils. Also the last (so far) a chord of this rivalry, the defeat of Tamil Eelam and the reconstruction of the island after more than thirty years of civil war was narrated.
